Shrubs, Bushes and Climbers
There are many different Shrubs, bushes and climbers to be found along the canal. In truth, many have been dumped by gardeners, or are attached to gardens, especially the more exotic climbers.
The most common wild shrub here is the dog rose, of which several sub species thrive, while the most common climber is the ubiquitous bindweed (poison ivy).
I’ve included brambles in this group as they give us blackberries, which make lovely jam. They also form wind breaks along Rimrose Valley Park. Bramble is so vigourous it makes Japanese knotweed look slow.
